Volleyball 2011 Results!

Congratulations to all the teams that participated in the annual volleyball tournament! A special thanks to the volunteers who refereed, kept score and provided lunch on Sunday. The tournament couldn’t run without you! Thank you.
Now on to the results. As the participants know this was the first year that the tournament took on a ladder format. This meant that teams began the day with a ranking based on previous years performance. Teams then competed in one of three pools with teams of approximately the same age and caliber. Team rankings were adjusted at noon and again at the end of the day. Four teams were awarded medals for their performance on the court.
SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD
The 2011 Sportsmanship Award went to a team that benifited from an exceptional team dynamic throughout the day. The team had practiced together prior to the competition on Sunday and their preparation showed as they competed against teams that were older and that had a significant height advantage. CongratulationsToronto East! Thank you for setting a great example for all of us.
CLOSING-THE-GAP AWARD
The 2011 Closing-the-Gap Award went to a Montreal B for advancing from 10th position Sunday morning to 8th position by the end of the day.
