From the Director’s Desk – August 2011

Hello Everyone!
Wow! It’s hard to believe that Camp Connections 2011 has already come and gone. Camp, as it is every year, was the BEST YET! My thanks to all the work the staff did to make this year so great. Camp is truly a team effort, and as you all get better and better at what you do, we continue to grow in opportunities to reach more campers. This year we had more first year campers than we have had in many years.
Also this year, thanks to the pushing by Mark Yandt, we now have our “stuff” on the Providence Point property. When we moved several years ago we stored all our supplies “temporarily” about 30 minutes away. It was nice as we closed camp to be able to leave a lot of the things we have been storing all over the province right there!
Camp was great, we tried some new things, had great food, met new people, and learned a lot. Many of our campers look at camp as the beginning of a New Year. What did you decide to change? Did you decide to go to a Youth Group this year, or be more regular at church attendance? Our messages during Chapel this year focused on “Living Loved”. It’s exciting and very humbling, to know that the God who created the universe loves us. Not just in general, but you and me, in a very personal way. We can take this for granted or even use this as an excuse to not grow closer to God during the year. After all, He loves us… no matter what. But the response to this God is hoping for is an overwhelming gratitude, and a desire to get to know HIM better. It is all of our hope that this year will be amazing for you all, and that you will grow not just physically, or even academically, but also grow closer to God, who loves YOU! Live loved.
We are already l week in to planning for Camp Connections 2012. Our goal is to fill both sessions. To do this we need your help! Please plan now to bring a friend! Hey, what could be better than being able to talk about camp all year round with someone and remind each other what you learned and what goals you set? We also have two major events planned each year outside of camp. There will be a volleyball tournament in early November in Toronto, and we have a retreat 2 hours north of Toronto the third week of February. Put those things on your Calendar!
And, last but not least, don’t forget to say Thank You to those that made this year’s camp possible for you.
Lots of love to you all,
Lynn and Dennis
